Joanna Simpson Foundation Newsletter June 2023

A message to our supporters from our Patron, Diana Parkes

‘We are so grateful for your support, and we would urge you to keep spreading the word as it is not just our family but many others that suffer these horrendous consequences. We must stop perpetrators being released from prison without careful monitoring and checks that they are mentally fit for release.’

After the Westminster Chapel event, and much media activity, we have made significant progress. All donations, no matter how small, are gratefully received and will go directly towards supporting those affected by domestic abuse & homicide please DONATE HERE

Most importantly, we have hugely raised awareness around domestic violence and homicide, we are very proud of this and thank you all. We are also much closer to stopping the dangerous killer Robert Brown from been released having only served half of his sentence.

Our Patron Diana Parkes (Jo’s Mum) and Co-Founder, Hetti Barkworth-Nanton have worked tirelessly over the past months appearing in numerous media interviews, as well as meeting with the previous Justice Secretary, Domonic Raab. We must also thank Carrie Johnson, The Rt Hon Robert Buckland, The Rt Hon Priti Patel and Jess Phillips MP for their support to the campaign.

Diana & Hetti were interviewed on Rachel Johnson’s Podcast Difficult Women, it is very powerful and informative you can listen to this HERE.

We have gone a long way in the previous months but urge you to support to campaign further if you have not already done so please email your MP, equally in light of the fact that we have a new Home Secretary if you have already done this please send a subsequent email so that MP’s can direct their responses to Alex Chalk EMAIL HERE

Please also sign our petition SIGN HERE for both UK and Non UK residents, you can also share the links with friends and family in the UK and ask them to email their MP and sign the petition.

On Thursday 15th June a private screening will be held in Westminster with speeches RH Robert Buckland, RH Dame DBE Priti Patel and a panel discussion with Diana and Hetti.

We also continue to lobby on the fact that killers released on licence are not properly monitored, it is a fact regularly acknowledged that the system is broken and the accompanying support network for families does not work and is flawed. This means that many families and victims in a position similar to Diana and Joanna’s children have a genuine and real fear of the consequences when a convicted killer is released on licence.

Thank you all again for your amazing support.

With our very best wishes,

The Joanna Simpson Foundation Trustees
