Joanna Simpson (Jo) attended the Buchan School on the Isle of Man in the late 1970’s and early 80’s. The School runs an annual triathlon event in which all their primary school pupils from the age of 8 to 12 participate. The Buchan Triathlon takes place on the grounds of King William’s College with the pupils completing lengths of the swimming pool, a cycle, and then a run to the finish. All pupils finish and all receive finishers medals.
The Buchan School, in collaboration with the event sponsors, nominate a charity to receive monies raised and this year the Joanna Simpson Foundation was nominated at the request of the sponsor, Ramsey Crookall. We want to thank both Ramsey Crookall for sponsoring and The Buchan School for hosting this year’s triathlon resulting in a donation of £519 to JSF.
Di Parkes, our Foundation Patron and mother of Jo, was invited to receive the cheque from the Buchan School at one of their Friday morning Assemblies.
Joanna Crookall, CEO at Ramsey Crookall, commented: “We were pleased to sponsor this year’s triathlon event alongside our 75th corporate anniversary. Over the years, there have been many Crookall family participants, and this year was no exception! I am delighted that our sponsorship has helped the Joanna Simpson Foundation charity in memory of my Buchan School friend Joanna Simpson.”
