‘The British Airways Killer’, explores the tragic death of Joanna Simpson, who was killed by her estranged husband, a British Airways pilot, in 2010.
Synopsis for ‘The British Airways Killer’
With access to Robert Brown’s unseen police interview tapes, this programme tracks the Thames Valley Police Major Crime Unit’s complex investigation into the death of Joanna.
When the mother-of-two disappeared from their house in an affluent area of Ascot on Halloween night in 2010, Brown called police the next morning to report a domestic issue.
Yet when he handed himself in, he refused to help police with their missing persons investigation, despite having brutally bludgeoned her to death with her children listening in their playroom. Eventually he confessed that he had killed her and told the police where to find the body.
This documentary follows the case from Robert Brown’s first phone call to the tragic discovery of her remains in a shallow grave in Windsor Great Park, to his conviction and the consequences it had – taking in an acrimonious divorce and the prenuptial agreement of a wealthy heiress that was to change British legal history.
Produced by Moonshine Features, the 2×60 documentary series features family archives and interviews with Joanna’s family and friends to provide an intimate insight into the time leading up to and following Joanna’s death. The documentary series also includes exclusive behind the scenes access to the high-profile campaign led by Joanna’s family and friends to stop the early automatic release of Robert Brown to ensure there is not another Jo.
